Armstrong/Austin Creek Assistance Patrol Volunteers

Volunteers are needed for Public Assistance Patrols. A Mounted Assistance Program (MAU) was started in 2006 for equestrians. In addition, a Foot Patrol Assistance Program was started by volunteer Mark Anderson (shown in the photo on the right). Mark is equipped with a radio and survival tools, including water for park visitors hiking in the back country of Austin Creek SRA. These programs help provide park visitors with a safe and enjoyable experience as they explore the wild parklands. Volunteers also collect valuable statistics for the park. Public Assistance Patrol Programs are managed by State Parks Rangers.

New Public Assistance Patrol Volunteers are required to attend one General Orientation Session during the year and are encouraged to attend some of the seminars on the natural and cultural features of the parks.
