Stewards' docent-led tours and hikes in Armstrong Redwoods SNR and Austin Creek SRA cater to school groups and the public. Potential docents can participate in a variety of educational programs in the following areas: redwood ecology, wildflower ID; watershed education; the natural and cultural history of the area. Training manuals, seminars and mentoring with experienced docents are all part of these "Volunteers in Parks" programs.

Potential docents are required to attend one of the three General Orientation Sessions, an Armstrong Tour Guide orientation, as well as, seminars that pertain to the natural and cultural history of these areas.
