 Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve (SNR) encompasses 805 acres surrounding and including a substantial grove of Coast Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens). The serene, majestic beauty of these trees is a living monument to the magnificent primeval redwood forest that covered much of this area before logging operations began during the 19th century.
The Parson Jones Tree rises to a majestic 310 feet above the needle-carpeted forest floor.
The Colonel Armstrong Tree is estimated to be an astonishing 1400 years old. The park features are a short easy stroll along level trails that are disability accessible. The Discovery Trail includes Braille stations at various points of interest.
Docent-led Adult Group Tours
Groups of 10 or more can book private naturalist or docent-led hikes (reservations at least 2 weeks in advance are recommended). To do so, simply register online by filling out our Online Reservation Form for Groups. Donations of $5-$10 per person are appreciated, as they help us continue to provide free docent-led environmental education programs for school groups through our School Group Education Programs.
