Park Closures and Reduced Services are Coming

MicheleGreetings fellow Stewards,

We are still awaiting the announcement about which of our beloved State Parks will close or reduce their services. It is now my understanding that we should hear something around September 18th.

Stewards is working on a couple fundraising strategies that we will be ready to implement as soon as we have confirmation about service reductions. With your help we will do our best to restore as many services as we can.

duck winnerWe raised some much needed funds this past weekend at the Bodega Seafood, Art and Wine Festival. Thanks again to everyone who volunteered for this event. The Duck Race was a big hit and it was very exciting that the winner of the grand prize, a wonderful Softub, was there at the event. Congratulations to Julie, Kelly and Bo Dougan!

love parksWe also had a very successful
"I ♥ State Parks" weekend of action. Many people filled out hearts with their reasons for loving our parks and expressed their disappointment and outrage that there will be closures. Special thanks to the California State Parks Foundation for sponsoring these events throughout the state.

We need your support NOW more then ever and we would really appreciate your help in promoting the Old Grove Festival. If you have a good "high traffic" area to put a poster or our rackcards let us know. Otherwise just sent an email to your friends and family and direct them to our website for all the information they need to purchase tickets.

Volunteers Needed - September 25-27, 2009

A few more volunteers are needed to cover shifts on Friday, Saturday during the day for the Family Day in the Park, and on Sunday.

Email stewards@mcn.org with the day, the time you can arrive, and any limitations or preferences you have.

If you can't volunteer we hope that you will attend one or more of the shows. There are great multi-show, group and family discounts. Whatever you can do to promote the shows will also be very much appreciated. Forward the link at the bottom of the page to your family and friends!
