A lovely event and more to come...

MicheleIn the midst of uncertainty as to how the new State budget will affect our local State Parks, Stewards is working hard to raise money to support our education and stewardship programs for all ages. We are also stepping up our efforts to raise additional funds in order to help maintain the services that are threatened by budget reductions. Times are going to be very tough for State Parks in the next few years, with reduced staffing levels and services. Our volunteers are even more valuable then ever and we need to outreach more into our community for help.

I want to thank everyone who helped us put on a very successful Gourmet Hike this past Saturday. This sold out event was very well received by those who attended. Barefoot Cellars' founder, Michael Houlihan said, "Thank you for a great experience! Everyone loved it! It was a very classy job all the way around, and what a venue, wow! We heard your address from the stage and found it inspiring." Read more about the event and everyone who made it possible on our 75th Anniversary web page. I expect to have some photos posted sometime this week so check back.

There are more opportunities this summer to enjoy the historic Redwood Forest Theater with good food, wine and incredible entertainment at our Fourth Annual Old Grove Festival in September. We are proud to present Chanticleer on September 25th, Maria Muldaur's Garden of Joy Jug Band on September 26th and Don Neeley's Royal Society Jazz Orchestra on September 27th. Also don't miss our Family Day in the Park on Saturday with horse and carriage rides, games and storytelling for children, ice cream, and a number of interpretive demonstrations and exhibits. On Sunday, our Great Mexican Feast will end a wonderful weekend. Tickets are on sale NOW and there are discounts for attending multiple shows, for families and for groups of ten or more. Tickets are limited, so purchase them online soon. Call the office for more information.

Stewards is most appreciative of your dedication and support for our organization.
