Stewards' docents provide an exciting hands-on learning experience about the life cycle of salmon; the requirements for a healthy stream habitat; and why these threatened fish need our help. The program also includes a classroom pre-visit to prepare the student for what they will be doing on their field visit.
For this program docent-led experiences are generally only available for groups of 36 students or less.
The program may take place at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve or at Pomo Canyon Campground, which is in Sonoma Coast State Park, depending on road conditions.
The program takes place from late fall (after we've had some rain) through early spring.
Due to the time it takes our staff to coordinate this program there is a $10 per student fee.
Grant funding and scholarships may be available to cover program fees and transportation. Applications are available in School Group Forms.
